3D printing and our creative process

A new way to create

At STRATES Atelier, every object begins as a conversation between design intuition and the possibilities of 3D printing. We don't just use this technology as a production method—we treat it as a creative tool in its own right. This allows us to explore new ideas, push boundaries, and create objects that are both simple and distinctive.

Technology meets craftsmanship

3D printing works through additive manufacturing : layer by layer, the object is built from scratch, without waste, without molds, and without excess. This process gives us complete freedom of form and allows us to create in small batches, with consistency and precision.

All our pieces are made in our workshop in Toulouse, France . Each item is carefully designed, tested, printed, and assembled in-house. This approach allows us to combine craftsmanship with technological flexibility —without compromise.

A plant-based material

Our designs are printed using PLA , a bio-based plastic made from corn starch . This bio-based material is more sustainable than traditional plastics , while offering great durability, a smooth finish and excellent stability over time.

At STRATES Atelier, we carefully select colors and textures to highlight the way each object interacts with light, while remaining true to our minimalist aesthetic. The result: contemporary, warm, and responsibly crafted designs.

A design process shaped by the material

3D printing is at the heart of our creative process . Each model goes through several phases: sketching, 3D modeling, prototyping, adjustments, and finally production. This method allows us to iterate quickly, reduce waste, and maintain complete control over the entire creative cycle.

By working this way, we aim to offer objects that are built to last - produced locally, in limited quantities, and designed to bring thoughtful design into your everyday life.
